 Sennelier paints and products have always been synonymous with excellent quality and the ability to combine the traditions of the Old Masters with the innovations provided by modern chemistry. Since 1887 they have produced the finest paints and products, and the Italian Artshop is proud to offer them in South Africa. Among other products, we offer: Sennelier artist quality oils  Originally developed in 1887 for Cezanne and the Impressionists, Sennelier Artist's Oils have been the standard of quality for over 100 years. Made from the extra-fine ground pigments and pure safflower oil, the colours have a unique non-glossy French satin finish that is more natural looking than other oils. As impressionism was dawning, Sennelier art materials were born. The breakthrough in colour accomplished by Cezanne, Bonnard, Pissaro, Picasso, and Kandinsky, came from a palette of colours created by Gustave Sennelier. Sennelier oil paints are still made from the finest ground pigments combined with pure, first press, non-yellowing safflower oil. Certain sensitive pigments are ground with custom oils on traditional granite rollers. The result is an outstanding collection of luminous and vivid oil paints with a smooth, buttery feel. Several colours are unique to the Sennelier, such as transparent Sennelier Brown and Chinese Orange, along with a wide range of semi-opaque Mars colours, transparent alizarins and the unusual Cinnabar and Cobalt Greens. Like regular oils, they can be diluted with turpentine. They dry to a hard film. These creamy, very lightfast sticks can be used for sketching, or for producing complete works of art on any traditional oil painting surface.
